Hurricane Electric Expands Global Network With New Point of Presence at FiberState SLC1 in Salt Lake City

Deployment will provide improved connectivity options to businesses throughout the Intermountain West

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that it has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) at FiberState SLC1, a premier carrier-neutral data center located at 106 E 13200 S, Draper, UT.

FiberState provides a highly interconnected and scalable environment with direct access to multiple carriers and cloud providers. The facility is strategically positioned to serve customers throughout Utah’s fast-growing technology corridor, which includes Salt Lake City, Lehi, Draper, and Provo—collectively known as the “Silicon Slopes.”

Utah has rapidly become one of the nation’s top technology and data center markets. Its diverse and expanding economy is driven by sectors such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, fintech, life sciences, and software development. The region’s combination of affordable and reliable power, low disaster risk, and pro-business policies has made it a magnet for enterprise expansion and infrastructure investment. According to CBRE, Salt Lake City ranks among North America’s hottest markets for tech job growth, and the state’s data center capacity is projected to significantly expand in the coming years.

This new PoP will provide improved fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services. Businesses and ISPs in the region will now have access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet), and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports.

“We are pleased to continue our network expansion with the addition of this new PoP at FiberState,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “Utah has emerged as a major technology hub, and this deployment enhances our ability to provide high-speed, resilient Internet connectivity to customers throughout the Intermountain West.”

Customers at FiberState will be able to exchange IP traffic directly with Hurricane Electric’s global network, which offers over 40,000 BGP sessions with more than 10,500 different networks via more than 320 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.

The new PoP further extends Hurricane Electric’s reach across North America and supports the growing demand for bandwidth and reliable interconnection services throughout one of the fastest-growing digital economies in the United States.
