Hurricane Electric Expands Network in New Zealand With New Point of Presence at Data Vault in Auckland

Deployment will provide improved connectivity options to businesses across Auckland and throughout New Zealand

AUCKLAND, New Zealand--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that it has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Data Vault Auckland, located at 162 Grafton Road, Auckland 1010, New Zealand.

Data Vault Auckland provides a highly secure, carrier-neutral environment with access to multiple telecommunications providers and major Internet exchanges. The facility is strategically located in the heart of Auckland’s central business district, enabling enterprises and service providers throughout New Zealand to interconnect seamlessly with local and global networks.

Auckland is the economic hub of New Zealand, contributing more than 38 percent of the nation’s GDP. It is home to a rapidly growing technology and digital infrastructure sector, driven by innovation in cloud computing, fintech, AI, and digital media. The city also serves as the country’s leading gateway for international business, supported by a strong telecommunications framework, renewable energy investments, and government initiatives that promote sustainable technology growth. According to the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the ICT sector now generates more than NZD $9 billion annually and continues to expand at one of the fastest rates in the region.

The new PoP will improve fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services to businesses in Auckland and beyond. Customers at Data Vault Auckland will now have access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet), and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports.

“We are delighted to expand our global network with this new Point of Presence at Data Vault Auckland,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “Auckland’s growing technology ecosystem and strong international connectivity make it an ideal location for Hurricane Electric’s continued expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.”

With this deployment, customers in and around Auckland can exchange IP traffic directly with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 40,000 BGP sessions with more than 10,500 different networks via more than 320 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.

The addition of this PoP marks Hurricane Electric’s continued commitment to supporting global connectivity, offering low-latency and high-reliability Internet access for enterprises, service providers, and research institutions throughout New Zealand.
