The project was awarded to the Seven Seas Aruba affiliate in 2024, and the new water treatment facility will produce a minimum of 16,500 cubic meters of high-quality drinking water per day (~4.4 million gallons per day). This new plant represents a vital component of WEB’s long-term strategy to enhance water security and reliability for the people of Aruba. The Water-as-a-Service® facility will operate under a 10-year Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) agreement and is expected to be commissioned in 2026. It will be located within WEB’s existing water utility complex.

WEB Aruba CEO, Mr. Alfredo Koolman, commented on this important milestone that the groundbreaking marks a major step forward in ensuring the continued reliability and sustainability of Aruba’s drinking water supply. The project is the result of extensive collaboration, hard work, and commitment from both the WEB and Seven Seas teams. Once operational, this new facility will strengthen WEB’s ability to meet the growing needs of the island. Koolman expressed he looks forward to seeing the plant come online in 2026 and thanked everyone involved for their dedication in making this vision a reality.

Henry Charrabé, CEO of Seven Seas Water Group, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership and the project’s future impact: “We are honored to work with WEB on this vital project, which underscores our shared commitment to delivering safe, sustainable, reliable, and affordable water to the people of Aruba. It initiates a long-standing and trusted relationship between WEB and Seven Seas and is another example of our success in the Dutch Caribbean. We are proud to expand our Water-as-a-Service® footprint to strengthen the island’s water infrastructure for years to come.”

This new SWRO facility reflects both organizations’ dedication to sustainability, innovation, and resilience in water production—ensuring that Aruba continues to have a reliable source of clean water for generations to come without any upfront capital investment requirement by WEB.
