Johnston Tobey Baruch Gains Additional Honor in Chambers USA Texas Spotlight Guide

Regional guide recognizes firm for appellate, professional liability work

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Johnston Tobey Baruch is celebrating an expanded presence in Chambers USA’s Texas Spotlight Guide, which recognizes boutique and mid-sized law firms that offer high-level service and specialized local experience.

A year after being cited for its professional liability practice, the 2026 guide recognizes Johnston Tobey Baruch for professional liability and appellate work.

“Law is a profession where reputation is built case by case and year by year,” said shareholder Randy Johnston. “It’s gratifying to see Chambers recognize the work we continue to do for clients across Texas.”

Johnston Tobey Baruch prevailed in several significant appeals last year. An El Paso appeals court sided with the firm’s client in a civil case involving the interplay of Mexican and Texas preclusion law.

In a case that drew widespread attention because it involved an airplane chartered for actor Bruce Willis, an appeals court affirmed that the firm’s client was due almost a million dollars after the plane suffered mechanical failure.

The firm also struck a blow for local governance, representing the Dallas County Commissioners Court in a successful effort to prevent a county agency from circumventing commissioners’ control of the county budget. Another appellate win blocked efforts to invalidate an election for Dallas County Democratic Party chair.

“We take great pride in all aspects of our work, and it’s particularly rewarding that Chambers USA has recognized us in an additional category,” said managing shareholder Chad Baruch.

Chambers USA says its Regional Spotlights recognize firms that “combine the personal service and competitive rates of smaller practices with the sophisticated expertise typically associated with larger firms.”

“Our clients have spoken, and Chambers has responded,” added shareholder Robert Tobey.
