Johnston Tobey Baruch Attorneys Earn Repeat Honors from Super Lawyers

The hits keep coming for these Dallas trial and appellate attorneys

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Johnston Tobey Baruch shareholders Randy Johnston, Robert Tobey and Chad Baruch have again been named among the best in the state with their selection to the 2026 edition of Texas Super Lawyers, continuing a long track record of recognition for their work in professional liability and appellate law.

Super Lawyers recognizes the top attorneys nationwide, using independent research and peer input. Inclusion on the annual list is a distinction reserved for the top 5% of attorneys in each state.

“We’re honored to be recognized again,” said Mr. Johnston. “Although if you ask any trial lawyer, we’d still rather win a case than win an award.”

Mr. Johnston was recognized for his work in professional liability for plaintiffs. Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, he is known for handling cases involving legal malpractice, fiduciary litigation and investment fraud. He is one of the state’s most respected voices on legal ethics, and last year he received a lifetime achievement award from ALM and Law.com.

Super Lawyers recognized Mr. Tobey, a veteran trial lawyer, for his work in professional liability for plaintiffs. Board Certified in Consumer and Commercial Law by TBLS, he has built a reputation for litigation expertise and extraordinary attention to detail, and earlier this year he was named to the prestigious Lawdragon Hall of Fame for 2026.

Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by TBLS, Mr. Baruch was recognized for his appellate practice. He recently served as lead appellate counsel in two high-profile cases, one reaffirming the constitutional role of juries, and a second challenging the use of rap lyrics as evidence in criminal trials. Mr. Baruch’s now-famous amicus “Hip-Hop Brief,” for which he was quoted in Rolling Stone magazine, argues that such use of artistic expression circumvents constitutional protections.
