OKI Launches Projection Assembly SystemTM in Southeast Asia

- Expanding support for manufacturing site operations globally, starting in Thailand and Indonesia -

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OKI (TOKYO: 6703) launched its Projection Assembly SystemTM (Note 1) in Thailand and Indonesia, which supports assembly and quality inspection processes, driving the digital transformation (DX) of manufacturing sites on November 25, 2025. The system combines projector-based task guidance with image sensing technologies to help create manufacturing sites where anyone can perform tasks to uniform quality. Marking the starting point for OKI’s global expansion of manufacturing DX solutions, this expansion into Southeast Asia will contribute to the quick solution of a wide range of challenges encountered at manufacturing sites in different countries through local language support, enhanced functionality, and collaboration with local partners.

It features various new and enhanced functions, including multilingual support, streamlining of setup procedures, and real-time work status visualization to ensure uniform quality work regardless of worker’s language or experience.

At manufacturing sites in Southeast Asia, issues such as high labor turnover, workforce diversity, and inconsistent work quality, are becoming more serious. In particular, in assembly processes that rely heavily on manual labor, there is a strong demand for an environment in which anyone can perform tasks to uniform quality, regardless of language or skill level.

OKI promotes the externalization of technologies and expertise developed in its own factories by providing them to external customers as products and services. The Projection Assembly System is part of this initiative, which was developed using insights gained from identifying issues and implementing and verifying improvements in OKI’s factory assembly processes. Since its launch in 2018, the system has been introduced and operated at more than 100 manufacturing sites in Japan and at OKI’s overseas factories. Drawing on practical experience gained from these on-site operations, OKI is to expand support globally, starting in Thailand and Indonesia, to help customers facing similar challenges.

The system improves efficiency both on-site and in management operations by reducing human error and training burdens for assembly and quality inspection work and by boosting productivity through work history analysis. It features various new and enhanced functions, including multilingual support, streamlining of setup procedures, and real-time work status visualization to ensure uniform quality work regardless of worker’s language or experience. OKI also provides comprehensive support in conjunction with local partners from installation to operation, improvement, and maintenance.

OKI is working to provide solutions utilizing its technologies and know-how cultivated in-house, while strengthening its global expansion. OKI will continue to support on-site transformation for global manufacturing through co-creation with industries and customers and through alliances with partner companies in mutually complementary forms.

[Functionality improvements of the Projection Assembly System]
1. Multilingual support: Supports English, Thai, and Indonesian, settable on a per-worker basis.
2. Streamlined setup procedures: New tools have been added that allow workers to intuitively configure various setting themselves, significantly reducing the setup workload when starting operations or changing production lines.
3. Work status visualization: Work status and data can be monitored and analyzed in real time in multiple work site environments. Data such as task duration and error counts for each worker can be collected automatically and visualized for use in process improvement.

[Terminology]
Note 1: Projection Assembly System
Support system that uses general-purpose IT devices such as projectors and cameras to project assembly work procedures and checkpoints onto the workbench, enabling uniform, high-quality operations regardless of individual workers’ experience and skill levels. The system prevents work errors, improves productivity, and supports skill transfer through on-site camera monitoring and AI-based feedback.
