Since 1928, Spartan College has trained over 100,000 pilots and technicians, establishing itself as a long-standing name in aviation education. Find Your AERO invites students, career changers, and aviation enthusiasts to explore training to pursue entry-level career opportunities, from piloting, aircraft maintenance, and avionics.

Shannon Faris, earned her Associate of Occupational Studies degree in the Airframe & Powerplant program from Spartan College’s Denver-area campus in 2019. Following graduation, she began her professional journey as an R&D Technician, applying her aviation maintenance expertise to real-world challenges. In 2022, she advanced into her current role as Production Planner III at BAE Systems, located in Westminster, CO. Spartan connected with Farris to reflect on her training experience and to share her insights and advice gained since starting her career in the aviation industry.

What is something that you wish more people knew or understood about aviation? “Variety. Aviation isn’t just about airplanes. It’s also aerospace, defense, and cutting-edge technology. It’s constantly growing and evolving, shaping industries beyond just commercial aviation.”

What does "Find Your Aero" mean to you? “For me, it means finding myself—discovering a future that helped me grow into the person I am today.”

How has aviation impacted your life beyond just your career? “It has given me a tremendous boost in confidence. I’ve realized what I’m capable of, and that mindset carries over into every aspect of my life.”
