Amprius SiCore® cell selected to explore carbon reduction potential in Amazon devices
FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Amprius Technologies, Inc. (“Amprius” or the “Company”) (NYSE: AMPX), a leader in next-generation lithium-ion batteries with its Silicon Anode Platform, today announced its selection for the 2025 cohort of the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator. The program supports companies developing technologies that could help reduce the carbon footprint of Amazon’s devices and operations as part of its broader commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2040 through The Climate Pledge.
Amprius was selected through a competitive process prioritizing climate impact and innovation potential, based on the promise of its SiCore® battery platform. SiCore delivers up to 80% higher energy density than conventional lithium-ion batteries, enabling longer runtimes, faster charging, and light-weight design to support more energy-efficient device platforms.
“Participating in the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator gives us a valuable opportunity to engage with Amazon’s technical and sustainability teams that are working on millions of devices worldwide,” said Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. “We’re particularly interested in exploring how our silicon anode technology could provide more efficient and lightweight energy solutions in industrial, consumer electronics, and mobility-focused platforms.”
“We’re excited to welcome Amprius to the cohort and explore how their battery innovation can support our goals for sustainable product performance across Amazon Devices,” stated Juliette Devaney, Head of Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator.
Amprius’ participation reflects the important role advanced batteries play in accelerating electrification and reducing carbon emissions across industries. As demand grows for lighter, more energy-dense solutions in sectors such as light electric vehicles, aviation, and robotics, Amprius’ batteries offer a path to higher system efficiency and lower environmental impact, making programs like this a valuable forum for exploring future applications.
