UDT Celebrates 30 Years of Ed Tech Leadership, Highlighting Investments in Tennessee as Cornerstone of its Future

NASHVILLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UDT (United Data Technologies), a national K-12 technology leader focused on delivering managed services, outlined significant investments in Tennessee as part of its broad strategy to make Internet, telecom and managed services stronger and more affordable to schools across the country.

We have had our sights set on Tennessee schools for quite some time because we believe we can add a lot of value for school districts while helping keep education dollars focused on the classroom.

Today’s announcement comes as UDT celebrates its 30th anniversary this month. The company has seen rapid growth across the country, growing from a bold vision in a family home in 1995 to a more than $400 million a year ed tech company operating in nine states and serving nearly 10,000 customers nationwide. Today, they serve 10 of the 20 largest school districts in the U.S., including Miami Dade County Public Schools, Orange County Public Schools, and Los Angeles Unified School District - to name a few. In total, they serve nearly 10% of the nation’s students - from small, rural districts to complex, urban school systems.

“Excellent service has been the cornerstone of our success for thirty years, and we are thrilled to expand our team throughout Tennessee,” said Henry Fleches, CEO, United Data Technologies. “Tennessee schools and students deserve the best and we aim to continue to provide them with best-in-class managed services and customer support.”

In Tennessee alone, UDT has grown exponentially in the last two years including:

  • Investing millions of dollars to build out their presence and best-in-class carrier-grade infrastructure to meet the growing demand for their services.
  • More than doubled their customer footprint in Tennessee including now supporting many area higher learning institutions, colleges and universities (i.e. Tennessee Board of Regents, Lipscomb University and Nashville State Community College).
  • Expanding their Nashville office - which is now second only to the national headquarters in South Florida in size and the largest of a growing number of regional offices across the country.
  • Recently awarded two significant E-Rate Consortium bids that will greatly expand their presence in Tennessee - positioning them to serve 130+ school districts across the state - all at significant savings to taxpayers alongside commitments for more resilient networks and significantly improved customer service.

“We have had our sights set on Tennessee schools for quite some time because we believe we can add a lot of value for school districts while helping keep education dollars focused on the classroom,” said Fleches. “As we think about the evolution of ed tech and the future of technology in general, Tennessee is and will continue to be a big focus of UDTs broader Southeast growth strategy. We’ve been steadily growing our presence here and see that accelerating greatly over the next several years. The state of Tennessee has proven to be an excellent place to invest, and we are confident it will continue to be moving forward.”

Founded in 1995 by Henry Fleches and Gerard Amaro, UDT has remained a founder-led company - a rarity in today’s marketplace. While other companies in the industry provide a limited set of services, UDT offers a complete spectrum of customized managed technology services. In particular, they are known for providing unrivaled customer service alongside best-in-class managed services for their customers.

UDT has specialized since its inception in K-12 Education Technology though they also have a deep bench in a host of other verticals including public and private colleges and universities, state, local and federal governments, Fortune 500 companies, as well as clients in complex, highly regulated industries such as financial services and banking.

While other companies in the industry simply provide a limited set of services, UDT provides a complete spectrum of customized managed technology services.
