New Public Art Installation Comes to Downtown Dallas, Honoring Cancer Survivors

Skybridge installation honors the resilience of cancer survivors through colorful storytelling

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SpeedPro Irving, a leader in large-format printing and visual solutions, today announced its collaboration with THAT THEY MAY artist studio for the public art installation of The Line Project—a large-scale work of art that tells the deeply personal stories of four cancer survivors. The installation will be displayed on the northbound skybridge crossing Pearl Street, overlooking the Cancer Survivors’ Plaza in downtown Dallas.

This powerful public artwork, set for installation in spring 2025, will depict the life-changing journeys of cancer survivors, capturing their struggles and triumphs through a dynamic timeline. The Line Project serves as a vibrant tribute, using color and design to illustrate the resilience of those who have faced cancer.

Originally conceived by artist Joshua King in 2016, The Line Project draws inspiration from life’s milestones and the infinite choices and people that shape our paths. Each turn in the artwork represents a pivotal moment in a survivor’s journey, transforming the skybridge over Pearl Street into a striking visual narrative of strength and perseverance.

Through his expertise in high-quality, large-format printing, David Ostermann, owner of SpeedPro Irving, is bringing the vinyl skybridge artwork to life, ensuring that the installation remains a striking and enduring symbol of survival.

“It’s an honor to contribute to an initiative that raises awareness, inspires hope, and brings artistic beauty to the community,” said David Ostermann, owner of SpeedPro Irving. “This installation not only showcases the powerful journeys of cancer survivors but also transforms a pedestrian bridge into a meaningful and reflective public space.”

The one-hundred-sixteen-foot work of art uses color to represent different types of cancer, visually reinforcing the importance of awareness and solidarity. Each section corresponds to a specific survivor’s story.

The project is also sponsored and supported by Inspire Art Dallas, Downtown Dallas Inc., The Dallas Office of Arts & Culture, Baylor Scott & White Sammons Cancer Center, and Plaza of the Americas.

The public unveiling and grand opening will be held with project partners and the artists during the Dallas Arts Month:

  • When: Thursday, April 24th at 4pm
  • Where: Celebration of Life Park, 600 North Pearl St, Dallas, TX, 75201

The event is free and open to all, join us!
