eClinicalWorks Advances Commitment to CMS Healthtech Ecosystem Interoperability Pledge with Production Support for Kill the Clipboard Initiative

eClinicalWorks brings seamless interoperability and patient-centered data exchange into everyday clinical workflows

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--eClinicalWorks®, one of the nation’s largest ambulatory cloud EHRs, today announced production support for the CMS’s Kill the Clipboard initiative, enabling digital, paperless patient intake at scale. This commitment positions the company among organizations voluntarily working to support evolving federal interoperability efforts.

“It’s an amazing new capability and very simple to use. It’s a major time-saver for patients and providers, helping minimize any incomplete or incorrect medical information.”

eClinicalWorks has simplified the process for practices to adopt KTC technology. Patients use an application designed to align with federal interoperability approaches to access their health information, first verifying their identity, which pulls their records from available sources, and generates a smart health QR code. Providers then scan the code with eClinicalMobile, and the records are available in eClinicalWorks at the point of care.

“It’s an amazing new capability and very simple to use. It’s a major time-saver for patients and providers, helping minimize any incomplete or incorrect medical information,” said Dr. Bradley Block, M.D., FAAFP, Block and Nation Family Medicine, about the Kill the Clipboard feature. “It’s going to be helpful for every aspect of seeing new patients. We’re now receiving the most accurate and complete medical information on new patients, directly provided by the patient, so we can provide the most optimal care to meet their individual needs.”

With a proven QHIN track record for TEFCA and deep roots in the interoperability space, the company possesses the technical foundation and scale necessary to support participation in emerging interoperability networks.

“Healthcare records should move with the patient — not remain siloed within individual organizations,” said Girish Navani, CEO and cofounder of eClinicalWorks. “Through interoperability, we are supporting providers and patients at the point where most care is delivered, in ambulatory settings, and with production support for Kill the Clipboard technology, we are delivering on broader goals for a connected health tech ecosystem.”

For providers, frictionless data exchange with other healthcare providers and patients themselves reduces duplicate testing, improves referral management, strengthens medication reconciliation, and enhances clinical decision-making. For patients, it means fewer delays, fewer repeated forms, and greater transparency in their healthcare experience.
