Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina Names Assistant District Attorney Jacquelyn Lane as Outstanding MDT Partner of the Year

Annual award is presented at statewide symposium on child abuse and neglect, providing ongoing training to professionals involved in NC’s response to child abuse

GRAHAM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina (CACNC), a statewide non-profit focused on child abuse prevention and support, names Burke County Assistant District Attorney Jacquelyn Lane as the 2025 Outstanding Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Partner of the Year. This annual award recognizes community members who are committed to the pursuit of child safety and exemplify extraordinary leadership in advocacy for child abuse victims.

“Our Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) and MDTs across the 54 centers in North Carolina are the heart of our work, bringing their knowledge and support to families in need from the moment they walk through the door through the legal process and beyond,” explained Deana Joy, Executive Director of CACNC. “Without these advocacy centers and dedicated MDTs, families face a confusing system. We are grateful to advocates like Jacqueline Lane for supporting child abuse victims and their families at every step to find hope and healing.”

Lane is a committed member of the Burke County multidisciplinary team, bringing years of experience trying cases involving special victims. She understands not only the law, but also the profound emotional weight these cases carry. She brings compassion to the courtroom, supporting victims and families with a relentless pursuit of justice.

“Jacquelyn Lane has always been a steadfast champion for victims in Burke County, operating with efficiency and precision, never losing sight of the human element at the center of each case,” explained Jennifer Gold, Director of the Burke County CAC of Southmountain Children and Family Services. “She understands the importance of every voice at the table and helps foster an environment where input is valued and decisions are made in the best interest of the children we serve.”

Lane was nominated by the Burke County CAC of Southmountain Children and Family Services and presented with the award on Tuesday, September 22 at the Annual “Reflections” Symposium on Child Abuse and Neglect in Lake Junaluska. This event brings together CAC leaders and MDT partners from across North Carolina to train, network and collaborate on how to best serve the state throughout its unique communities. This symposium offers training opportunities for professionals involved in the response to child abuse, allowing for discipline-specific and cross-training of professionals in the investigation, evaluation, treatment and prosecution of child maltreatment cases.
