Abnormal AI Achieves GovRAMP Authorization to Secure State, Local, and Educational Organizations

GovRAMP authorization highlights customer trust in Abnormal to deliver AI-powered protection against the full spectrum of email-based threats

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Abnormal AI, the leader in AI-native human behavior security, today announced that it has received GovRAMP, previously known as StateRAMP, authorization at a moderate impact level from the Government Risk and Authorization Management Program (GovRAMP®). With this authorization, Abnormal is enabling state, local, and education (SLED) organizations to more easily deliver AI-powered protection against advanced email threats.

“Earning this GovRAMP authorization underscores our mission to protect state and local government agencies and educational institutions against adversaries that are weaponizing AI to outpace traditional defenses,” said Zach Oxman, AVP of SLED at Abnormal AI. “Public sector organizations are increasingly targeted with email-based attacks because of the sensitive data they handle and the essential services they deliver. In the age of AI, these institutions cannot rely on outdated defenses—they need modern, behavioral-based technology like Abnormal to stay secure.”

Sponsored by the University of Texas at Austin, this authorization allows Abnormal to extend its AI-native email protection to public sector organizations, protecting them against advanced phishing, business email compromise, vendor fraud, and account takeover attacks—especially as these attacks become increasingly sophisticated through cybercriminals’ use of AI.

“As one of the nation’s leading research universities, we rely on trusted partners like Abnormal to safeguard our students, faculty, and critical research data,” said Cam Beasley, CISO at University of Texas at Austin. “Sponsoring Abnormal’s GovRAMP authorization reflects our commitment to modernizing security in higher education and ensuring that advanced, AI-driven protections are available to other public institutions across the country.”

This latest authorization builds on Abnormal’s momentum in meeting the highest standards of security and compliance. The company achieved FedRAMP Moderate Authorization in just 256 days as it continues to expand its footprint across the public sector, and recently earned ISO 42001 certification for responsible AI.
