As Chief Product Officer, Protection, Kolmin’s primary responsibility is overseeing product development for the company’s life insurance business line, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while driving growth and profitability. He will report to Aaron Seurkamp, SVP and President, Protection & Retirement Division.

“This promotion highlights Protective’s commitment to advancing our internal talent," said Seurkamp. “Russ exemplifies the strength of our talent pipeline and demonstrates our strategic focus on developing leaders who drive our organization forward. His deep understanding of our business and products, combined with his extensive pricing expertise, makes him uniquely qualified for this role.”

Kolmin joined Protective in 2014 as a Pricing Actuary, where he oversaw pricing efforts for all products within the life insurance business line. He quickly advanced through various leadership roles, becoming VP, Corporate Actuary in February 2022. In this role, Kolmin led corporate transaction valuations and conducted due diligence on key actuarial topics throughout the acquisition process. He played a pivotal role in some of Protective's most significant recent transactions, including the 2024 ShelterPoint acquisition and the $9.7 billion strategic reinsurance agreement with Resolution Life announced earlier this year.

An Ohio native, Kolmin began his career at State Farm before joining Protective. In 2014, he achieved his Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation. Throughout his career, Kolmin has remained an active volunteer in the actuarial community through the Society of Actuaries.
