WHAT:
Press preview/tasting and one-on-one interviews Chicago’s first SeoulSpice Korean Kitchen restaurant.

SeoulSpice combines the thrill of Korean flavors and culture with the freedom for customers to create a rice or noodle bowl based on their preferences. SeoulSpice now has a total of seven locations across Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

WHO:
SeoulSpice’s Korean-American founder, Eric Shin, developed all the recipes based on treasured family recipes served in their home and in his parents’ restaurant in Atlanta, which was the first and top-rated Korean restaurant in that city. Eric is currently the principal percussionist of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC, and in 2011 was a guest percussionist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

NOTES:
SeoulSpice Korean Kitchen will host a Community Day on Wednesday, April 2nd from 11 am-7pm, during which, every guest gets a free bowl and will be encouraged to donate to Nourishing Hope, one of Chicago’s largest and longest operating hunger relief organizations, providing the equivalent of more than 4.5 million meals each year. SeoulSpice will match all guest donations.

Korean culture’s popularity in the US continues to grow thanks to K-Pop's vibrant energy, K-Beauty's skin care innovations, and "Squid Game" put K-Dramas at the top of the streaming queue. Simultaneously, American appetites have awakened to Korean cuisine. Chicago-based Circana reports a 10% surge in US Korean restaurants in 2024, spanning full-service and quick service restaurants.
