Gentle IVF by Ivy Fertility: A Breakthrough Protocol with Fewer Shots, Same Success

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ivy Fertility, a nationally recognized network of fertility clinics, is proud to announce the launch of Gentle IVF, an innovative IVF protocol designed to reduce the physical and emotional burden of treatment while maintaining the same high success rates as traditional IVF. The network launched Gentled IVF in June 2025.

We believe the future of IVF can be softer, more convenient, and less painful.

The Gentle IVF protocol grew out of research conducted by Linnea Goodman, MD, a double board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist at Virginia Fertility & IVF in Charlottesville. Dr. Goodman’s research found that an oral medication protocol was just as effective as injected medications to prevent premature ovulation, leading to identical success rates to traditional IVF. The safety and efficacy of the protocol has been tested through numerous studies beginning in 2016, and is already a popular option outside of the United States.

“We’re thrilled to officially introduce Gentle IVF to patients across the Ivy network. At Virginia Fertility & IVF, we’ve been using this protocol with our patients for over three years and have seen outstanding results,” said Dr. Goodman. “The decision to launch Gentle IVF more broadly comes after careful scientific evaluation and validation of its effectiveness. As fertility specialists, we are always striving to refine protocols in ways that improve patient experience without compromising success. Gentle IVF is an exciting example of how science and compassion can come together to make IVF less burdensome while still achieving the outcomes our patients hope for.”

The oral protocol, when used in combination with techniques to reduce the number of daily stimulation injections, translates to a significantly less invasive patient experience. On average, patients undergoing Gentle IVF can expect:

  • 21–43 fewer injections per cycle than conventional IVF
  • About 20% fewer clinic visits, blood draws, and ultrasounds
  • Reduced medication costs, saving $400–$900 per cycle
  • The same success rate as traditional IVF

The protocol is currently available to IVF patients, egg freezing patients, and egg donors at Dallas IVF, Idaho Fertility Center, Los Angeles Reproductive Center, Nevada Fertility Center, Nova IVF, Pacific Northwest Fertility, San Diego Fertility Center, Utah Fertility Center, and Virginia Fertility & IVF.

“We strive to offer the most compassionate care available in the world, and Gentle IVF is a clinically differentiated way we can fulfill that promise for the patients we serve,” said Ivy Fertility Chief Growth Officer Constance Rapson. “Fertility treatment can be a physically and emotionally challenging journey. We believe the future of IVF can be softer, more convenient, and less painful - while never compromising success rates, because the most successful treatment is also the most compassionate treatment.”

The initiative underscores Ivy Fertility’s commitment to making fertility care more accessible, compassionate, and patient-friendly. In addition to offering Gentle IVF across its centers, Ivy Fertility is supporting the launch with a digital campaign, outreach to OB/GYN offices, and educational resources to help patients understand their options.
