PINGTAN, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On 31 August 2025, the 2025 “Ocean Cup” China-Pingtan International Cycling Open fired its starting gun in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian Province, drawing nearly 2,200 riders from 16 countries and regions.
The event was organized by the Chinese Cycling Association, the Fujian Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone Administrative Committee; hosted by the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone Bureau of Tourism, Culture & Sports and Pingtan Cultural & Tourism Development Group Co., Ltd.; operated by Pingtan Straits Sports Industry Development Co., Ltd.; and executed by Wuxi Hechang Event Management Co., Ltd. and Beijing EverTop Sports & Culture Media Co., Ltd. Competition comprised five racing categories—including Men's Road Elite and Women's Road Open—and a non-competitive island-circumference leisure ride.
BROSS-CENIT's Su Jun claimed the Men's Road Elite title in 2:04:47, with Mick Bauer and Pang Peilin taking second and third respectively. First held in 2014, the race has, over its ten-year history, steadily raised Pingtan's international profile and spurred integrated development of the city's sports, culture and tourism sectors. Event director Shi Wen noted, “Pingtan leverages its unique proximity to Taiwan, using sport to foster cross-strait exchanges and advance integrated development between the two sides.”
