Dr. Neal Blitz, DPM, FACFAS Sworn In as Honorary Police Surgeon to the NYPD

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dr. Neal Blitz, DPM, FACFAS, renowned foot and ankle surgeon, has been officially sworn in to serve the New York City Police Department (NYPD) as an Honorary Police Surgeon. In this capacity, Dr. Blitz will be called upon to care for NYPD officers with his vast expertise in foot and ankle medicine, from trauma and reconstructive surgery to the most advanced minimally invasive solutions.

NYPD Commissioner Thomas G. Donlon and Supervising Chief Surgeon Dr. Eli J. Kleinman, M.D., presided over the swearing-in ceremony, and spoke to the critical role that Honorary Police Surgeons play in maintaining the health of NYPD officers and families – particularly officers injured in the line of duty.

Dr. Blitz maintains a private practice on Fifth Avenue, in the heart of midtown. He was born and raised in New York City, and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree cum laude from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Blitz has held important leadership roles with the NYC metropolitan area since 2008, first as Chief of Foot Surgery & Associate Chairman of Orthopedics in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, then through his private practice starting in 2012. Through his deep roots and exceptional reputation in the global medical community, he has helped expand New Yorkers’ access to the latest, most innovative foot and ankle care.
