The Bert Show supports teachers across the country with Clear the Wishlist initiative

Nationally syndicated morning radio show launches school supply assistance program

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--It’s hard for many to believe, but teachers spend their own money every day to make sure their students are prepared for success. To help combat the rising trend of teachers having to pay out of pocket for essential classroom supplies, The Bert Show has launched the Clear the Wishlist campaign. This effort leverages the show’s powerful listener base to help teachers around the country fully stock their classrooms for the 2021-2022 school year.

Teachers are invited to submit voicemails, which will be played for The Bert Show audience during live shows, describing why their wish list should be cleared. The first honoree of the program, Jenaya Duke-Wade, shared her ongoing battle with cancer while teaching special needs middle school students. Listeners stepped up and cleared her list by that afternoon! Other teachers are requesting items – such as snacks for students facing food-insecurity, bottled water in place of fountains closed due to COVID-19, organizational tools, coloring products, class rewards and more.

“One of my favorite parts of The Bert Show is our family of listeners helping each other out,” said Bert Weiss, the namesake host of The Bert Show. “Our listeners understand the strain teachers are under, and it’s been so touching to see them step up and make sure teachers have a little less financial and emotional strain to start the school year.”

Teachers are encouraged to call in to 1-844-827-8368 to submit their story!
