Deluxe President and CEO Barry C. McCarthy Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award from Technology Association of Georgia

MINNEAPOLIS & ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Deluxe (NYSE: DLX), a trusted Payments and Data company, along with the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and its 30,000 members, announce that Barry C. McCarthy has received the prestigious TAG Lifetime Achievement Award. McCarthy is only the third person to receive this distinction and the first person in TAG’s history to receive both the Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the TAG Fintech Hall of Fame, reflecting his exceptional contributions across technology, innovation, financial services, and the broader community.

The award was presented during TAG’s 2025 Chairmen’s Gala last night which was attended by 400 industry leaders and guests, celebrating leaders and organizations shaping Georgia’s technology ecosystem.

Since joining Deluxe in 2018, McCarthy has led the 110-year-old company’s transformation beyond its legacy as a check printer into a modern, tech-driven payments and data leader processing more than $2 trillion in electronic payments supporting millions of businesses and thousands of bank partners. As the company shared in its recent earnings report, Deluxe has now delivered 11 consecutive quarters of year-over-year EBITDA growth, double-digit cash flow increases, and continued margin expansion with profit growing faster than revenue. This progress reflects a disciplined focus on innovation, capital allocation, operational excellence, and customer partnership.

Under McCarthy’s leadership, Deluxe opened its Technology Center in Atlanta, now a hub for product development, data, and fintech innovation. Deluxe has expanded its presence in Georgia through new technology roles, community partnerships, and engagement in regional growth initiatives that strengthen Atlanta’s position as a national fintech leader.

Outside of Deluxe, McCarthy is an active civic and industry leader committed to advancing education, economic empowerment, and community development. He serves on the boards of the Carter Center, National Urban League, and Committee for Economic Development of the Conference Board, as well as the Woodruff Arts Center, where he serves as Finance Chair; and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, where he sits on the Executive Committee and previously chaired the Technology Council. He is also a board member of the Minnesota Business Partnership. McCarthy also serves on the Cristo Rey Atlanta Board of Directors, supporting educational and career opportunities for underserved youth. He is a former Chairman of the American Transaction Processors Coalition, FinTech Atlanta and the Technology Association of Georgia, and a director of the Electronic Transaction Association.

In his remarks at the gala, McCarthy reflected on the spirit that defines Georgia’s technology community:

“Nowhere has what we have here in Georgia. Nowhere. We’re a community that 'Runs-to-the-Fire.' We run towards the challenge, not away from it. (We) give back, genuinely care about each other, our industry, and our collective future. The tech community culture we’ve built is a talent magnet drawing thousands of people to relocate here every year. But this award isn’t just mine – it belongs to all of us. This community is like a giant group project where everyone actually did their part, and our group got an A+.”

McCarthy’s recognition underscores the Deluxe commitment to innovation, leadership, and community impact—values that continue to guide its growth and its role in advancing Georgia’s technology economy.
